ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

Incorrect positioning of the teeth often leads to malocclusion, tooth abrasion, periodontal tissue damage, as well as temporomandibular joint dysfunction and other unpleasant consequences. It is orthodontic specialists who save us from these consequences or have already saved us from them, as well as returning us beautiful, even smiles.

Orthodontic treatment helps to achieve the correct position of the teeth, improve their aesthetics and function, and ensure a correct bite. One of the most common defects is a distal bite, when the lower teeth are located deep under the upper teeth and to the back. When smiling, only the upper dentition or partially the lower dentition is often visible. It is impossible to perform rolling movements because the front teeth do not contact each other and do not bite off.

Types of orthodontic treatment.

Orthodontic treatment is the process of correcting malocclusion and misalignment of the jaws to improve chewing function, prevent oral diseases, and create an aesthetic smile. There are several types of orthodontic treatment:- surgical;- hardware; - hardware-surgical;- functional.

The surgical method is used more often if the upper and lower jaws are incorrectly formed, significantly far apart, broken, or less often if the patient has suffered a disease that has caused deformation of the jaws and skull.
Hardware-surgical method (combined: braces and surgery) is a combined effect on the teeth. It is used to increase the space of the alveolar ridge, for plastic surgery of the tongue frenulum, removal of extra teeth and for the realization of full closure of the upper and lower jaw.

Braces systems.

A bracket system is a fixed structure consisting of braces (locks) that are attached directly to the teeth, an orthodontic arch that is installed in the braces/locks, and a mechanism that holds the arch itself. If the bracket design has such a mechanism, the bracket system is called self-ligating. If this function is performed by elastic or metal ligatures (elastic bands), such a bracket system is called non-self-ligating.
Depending on the material of manufacture, braces can be made of metal, ceramic or artificial sapphire. According to the place of fixation, there are vestibular braces (front, external) and lingual braces (when they are attached to the inside of the tooth).
